Kenneth Chester Ferguson, 80, of Decatur died 8:30 a.m. Monday (Jan. 29, 2001) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy.[1] Mr. Ferguson was born July 21, 1920, in Mattoon, the son of Chester and Almeda H. Woods Ferguson. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1939 and was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War. He had worked as a boilermaker for General Electric Co., retiring in 1975. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Stephen Decatur Lodge 979 AF & AM, life member of VFW Post 5224 and American Legion Castle Williams Post 105. He married Betty J. Hepworth Aug. 23, 1941, in Decatur. Surviving are his wife; son, Michael Kent Ferguson of Peoria; daughters, Sharon Reynolds and husband Larry of Decatur; Rhonda J. Ferguson of Carterville; brother, Donald Ferguson and wife Esther of Pinellas Park, Fla.; sisters, Dorothy J. Peterson and husband Albert of Decatur; Kathleen Bridges of Decatur; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military rites by Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials: American Diabetes Association.
Kenneth was buried at the Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, Macon, Illinois, United States.[2]
