Andrew Fergusson was christened April 8 1722, in Galson of Ayrshire, Scotland, a son of Robert Fergusson. [1] The Fergusson family immigrated to America, where their name is spelled Ferguson/Furguson. At the time of the American Revolutionary War, they were living in Tryon county, which included land of both modern day North and South Carolina.
Andrew died July 25, 1810, and is buried in the churchyard of the Old Pisgah Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, in Gastonia, Gaston county, North Carolina, which was established, December 21, 1846. (His date of birth is given as 1724 [2] Andrew's brother, Robert, died in 1815, and is buried in the churchyard of the Long Creek Presbyterian Church in Bessemer City, Gaston county, North Carolina.
