Biography

Will

In the name of God Amen. I Jeremiah Ferguson senr of Bedford county and the state of Virginia being of sound mind do make and ordain this my last will and testament revoking all others
First, it is my desire that after my death all of my just debts shall be paid
Then I give unto my wife Jemima Ferguson all my estate both real and personal during her life or widowhood and at her death or marriage
I give unto daughter Nancy Hatcher and her children and such as may be born hereafter one seventh part of my whole estate on the following terms - that is my executor or administrator shall keep posession of the part left her & apply the interest to the use of her and her own children during the lifetime of Elijah Hatcher her present husband and at his death put her in posession of it if his death should happen before the death of my wife then and in that case she shall have posession at the time of the rest of my children
I give my daughter Polly Simmons and her heirs one seventh part of my estate
I give to my son Jesse Ferguson and his heirs one seventh part of my estate.
I give to my daughter Elizabeth Maxy her heirs one seventh part of my estate
I give to my son Jeremiah Ferguson and his heirs one seventh part of my estate
I give to my son Thomas Ferguson and his heirs one seventh part of my estate
I give to my son John Ferguson and his heirs one seventh part of my estate
I constitute and appoint my wife Jemima Ferguson and friend Lewis Wingfield executrix and executor to this will In witness whereof I have subscribed my name this 19th day of November in the year of our Lord 1828

At a court held for Bedford county at the courthouse the 26th day of January 1829 this last will and testament of Jeremiah Ferguson deceased was exhibited in court and proven by the oaths of James Burnett and Williamson Burnett subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
