Henry George Ferguson was born on the 23rd of July, 1896 in Wallumbilla, Queensland, Australia. He was the son of Jim Ferguson and Amelia Comley. [1]

The family moved to farm land the parents had selected near the rail head and small settlement of Kingaroy in 1900. He went to the nearby Mount Jones school until he was 14. He then worked on the family farm until 1915 when he enlisted in the Australian Infantry Forces.

He went to England and then served on the Western Front in France during World War I in the 15th Infantry Battalion. He spent 3 years in the trenches of Flanders.

His enlistment date was 16 Feb 1916. His next of kin on enlistment was: Mother, Mrs A F Ferguson, Kingaroy, Queensland. His address when he enlisted was Kingaroy, Queensland. His occupation when he enlisted was Farmer. His unit was: 15th Battalion, 19th Reinforcement. His rank was Private. His Regimental Number was: 6014. Returned to Australia 1 July 1919. [1] [3]

On return to Australia, he worked on the farm, then as a carrier, then for the KIngaroy council making roads. He was then a foreman with the Main Roads department.

He married Dorothy Edith Neubauer in Kingaroy, Queensland in 1929.[4]

During World War II, he worked on the waterfront in Brisbane working for Luya Julius handling war materials for the Americans. After the war, he moved back to Kingaroy and bought a steam traction engine in parternship with his son, Lloyd and brother Ned and started a small sawmill on the outskirts of the town.

He passed away on the 19th of October, 1985 at Caboolture, Queensland.
