Mary was born about 1865. She was the daughter of Hickson Fergusson of The Knowe, Ayrshire and Isabella Janet Halliday Gemmell.[1]
Scotland Census Event Date 1871: Living with her parents, sister Annie and five other individuals in Anderston, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Aged 5.
She married George Arbuthnot Burns 2nd Baron Inverclyde of Castle Wemyss (son of John Burns, 1st Baron Inverclyde of Castle Wemyss and Emily Arbuthnot) on 6 April 1886.
They had no children.
After her marriage, Mary was styled as Baroness Inverclyde of Castle Wemyss on 12 February 1901.
Her husband George died on 8 October 1905 at age 44. (Her husband George had spearheaded the development of the steamships Lusitania and RMS Mauretania but died before the ships were launched. Mary christened the Lusitania at her launching in June 1906.)
She died some after 1906.
