Bio: Annie Watson (Ferrel) Berry was the daughter of William Ferrel and Emily Lockwood
Litha Berry was the daughter of Dr.James Clark Berry and Annie Watson Ferrel, who lived on Pipe Creek perhaps a mile from Dilles Bottom. The family's cabin was hit by a flash flood on July 5, 1896. Jim grabbed his son William Clark while mother Annie took little Litha who was a toddler at the time, and they rushed out through the rising water to try to reach high ground. Jim was able to get Clark to safety and left him in the family's "milk cave" while he tried to rescue Annie and the baby, who had fallen behind. As I recall, things had deteriorated very quickly and it was believed that the cabin, Annie and the baby had been struck by floating logs and debris, resulting in the drowning deaths of mother and child.

Nearly a century later, in June 1990, the same area was hit again by a flash flood which resulted in the tragic loss of 24 lives. Survivors spoke of the sudden appearance of a "wall of water" which reached heights of 20-30' in some places.

She was the 1st wife of Dr. James Clark Berry. They were married Pipe Creek August 17, 1890.
