Curtis was veteran of World War having served in the US Army from February 28, 1937 to November 18, 1945. Curtis married Catherine Jewel Reddington. Curtis passed away on June 20, 1976 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio and was laid to rest in the Dayton National Cemetery.[4]
