Reed was born 12d 7m 1762 [12 Jul 1762] in Dutchess County,[1] New York. he was the son of Zebulon and Ruth Ferris.[1]
He married Honour Huling, daughter of John and Susanna of Beekman, on 4 Dec 1788 at the Hudson monthly meeting.[2]
In 1787, Reed paid £18:19:4 for 17 years of quit-rent on 510 acres in the Queensbury Patent.[3]
Reed's will was dated 2 Aug 1787.[4] It stated that he lived in Lived in Pawling, Dutchess, New York.[4] The will lists his sons as Benjamin (deceased), Edmond, James, Warren, Pitt, Morris, and Seneca.[4] His daughters are provided as Lydia Wanzer (deceased?), Anne, and Molly Akin.[4][5] The children of his deceased son Benjamin are listed as Alford, Prang(?), and Anne.[5] In a codicil dated 1 Ma4 1791, his deceased daughter Lydia's son Benjamin is named.[5] Also named were Anne Ferris Jr., Anne Umsted, and Anne Haviland.[5]
