Biography

In 1668 Zachariah Field's name listed on petition against imposts at North Hampton, MA. NEGHR Vol 9 page 89 At 20 February 1689 "his petition for settlement at Oyster River." NEGHR Vol 8 page 234. On 14 Nov 1690 at Dover, NH Zachariah was granted admin of brother Joseph's estate, in November 1692 he did a partial inventory of the estate but no valued was recorded in New Hampshire probates At 5 Sept 1704 "bond of Zachariah Field with John Tuttle and Thomas Potts, yeoman both of Dover, as sureties, in the sum of $200 for admin of the estate of Martha Bates and Charles Story as per entry in New Hampshire probates. At 5 Sep 1704 there were claims made against the estate of brother Joseph, then and inventory valued the estate at $74.10 and in 1705 additional $18. Claims were $104. Insolvent at 1706.

"LIEUT. ZACHARIAH FIELD (Darby, John), b. Oyster River, Me.; m, there Hannah Evans, dau. of Robert and Ann (Colcord)." Quote from F.C. Pierce, "Field Genealogy"[1]. The following children of Zachariah and Hannah are listed: i. DANIEL, b. Aug. 9, 1690; m. . ii. ZACHARY, b. Jan. 30, i686; m. Sarah iii. STEPHEN, b. ; m. Mary King.

Field's Plains. This name is generally given to the level sandy tract between Dover and Durham, in the upper part of the Back River District. It includes the Dry Pines and Pitch-pine plains of early times, and Clarke's plains of a later day. They are so named from Zacharias Field, who acquired land on these plains more than 200 years ago, and here built his garrison.[4]

References that I have seen call him either Zachariah or Zacharias, with only one "c". I think this may be a typo.
