Maria, third daughter of Robert Finch and Mary Franklyn, was born in 1826 at Dolleys Hill, and christened at St. Mary's, Willesden on 14th September 1826. [1] By 1841 she was being educated at an Establishment for Young Ladies in St. John's Hampstead [2] along with her sister Henrietta. In 1851 she was living with her family at Dolleys Hil [3]. as she was in 1861 [4]
She married Thomas Pearse, a widower, in 1862 at St. Mary's Willesden. [5] The service was conducted by her brother-in law, Rev Robert Jenkins, her bridesmaid was her cousin, Harriet Franklyn and the witnesses were her brother Henry Finch and her sister Henrietta Finch.
They moved to Wales where they had three sons, Tom, Robert and George William. By 1871 Tom had been posted to Barking in Essex [6] and in 1881 Tom had retired
and they were living in Bedford. [7]
There was some disagreement in the family, (referred to in Tom's will) and he moved to Brighton where he died in 1889, and Maria continued to live in Bedford with her son George as can be seen in the censuses 1891 and 1901 [8][9]
She died at her home in 1910 and was buried in the Finch family vault at St. Mary's Church, Willesden Middlesex on 12th November 1910. [10] aged 84. Her son Tom and her brother Robert were executors of her will. [11]
