William Finley was born 1742 in Virginia. His parents are unknown. [1]

1784 Land Grant Jefferson County

On 17 November 1784 1828 Acres on the Bear Creek Watercourse in Jefferson County, Kentucky, were surveyed for William Finley. [2]

On 21 October 1797 3000 acres on the M Fk Ky R Watercourse in Madison County, Kentucky, were surveyed for William Finley. [3]

1798 Marriage to Agnes "Nancy" McCown

On 9 February 1798 he married Agnes "Nancy" McCown (1754–1844) in Lincoln County, Kentucky. She was the widow of William Logan (1749-1796) and brought his 10 children into the relationship, all but one of whom were underage.[1]

Agnes "Nancy" McCown was born in 1754 in Augusta County, Virginia, the daugther of Francis McCown, born 1710, and Margaret Patterson, born 1713. [4]

She died 28 June 1844 in Lincoln County, Kentucky at the age of 90. [4]
