Biography

James was born in 1737. He is the son of James Finley and Sarah Jane Harrison. [1]

Note: From the Finley WikiTree FSP below..."James was a stonemason by trade, I know that because he said so in an Indenture between himself and a neighbor. He purchased the property I now live on at a sale of confiscated British property in 1782. He gave it the name "Honesty is the Best Policy". He applied for a "Patent" on his property on March 21, 1787 (Maryland State Archives IC #K page 229 the Certificate) and received his Patent on August 19, 1795 (Maryland State Archives IC #G page 563)."

Research Note

Finleys in Harford, Maryland Everett L. Smith is/was a genealogist with 37 years of experience. He lived on the property once owned by James Finley II. His goal was to specifically identify the Finley family connected to the house and property. All of his work is based on evidence. Pocock-248
