James Finney was born on 1 Nov 1793, and christened on 8 Dec 1793 at Prescot St Mary's. He was the son of James Finney (cordwainer of Prescot) and his wife Hannah.[1]
James married Ann Taylor on 1 Oct 1820 at St Peter's Church in Liverpool, Lancashire. Both were of Liverpool; Ann was a spinster, James a watchmaker. The witnesses were William Taylor & Thomas Mason.[1]
Ann died in 1828, and was buried on 27 Apr 1828 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her age was recorded as 42, and her address as Eccleston.[1]
James married Margaret Vaughan on 21 Sep 1828 at St Michael's Church in Liverpool, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish; James was a watchmaker, Margaret a spinster. The witnesses were Richard Finney and Mary Finney[1] [James' brother and his wife].

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
There are a couple of James Finney baptisms in 1793-4 in Prescot listed on Lancashire OPC, both would be about the same age as each other in records. Since you have the 1871 death date on this James, I'm wondering whether you've found any evidence that the James who died in 1871 was the son of James and Hannah Finney, and not the son of William and Ann Finney, and if so, what it was.
The reason I ask is, I was going to make a profile for the James Finney (a watchmaker) who married Ann Taylor in 1820, and then Margaret Vaughan in 1828. He was still alive for the 1871 census, and was living in Eccleston then, and I'm not sure if he's the same person as Finney-642 or not. Any thoughts?
Regards
Corinne
p.s. I see now that the marriage witnesses for the wedding of James Finney and Margaret Vaughan were Richard and Mary Finney, so that supports Margaret's husband being the son of James and Hannah, since Richard would then be his brother (and Mary would be Richard's wife). William and Ann didn't have a son Richard. So I'm thinking that's how it lines up, and the profile I've made for Ann Finney ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Finney-2537 ) should be connected up as the daughter of this profile Finney-642 . But if you have any other thoughts on it please do let me know, and feel free to disconnect them again if you think it's wrong.
