Biography
Ellen Fenney or Finney was born on 20 Apr 1819, and christened on 16 May 1819 at St Helens Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Thomas and Ann Fenney. Her father was a clogger of Hardshaigh.
Ellen married Walter Paterson on 14 Jul 1844 at Farnworth Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot. Both were of full age (21 or more) and lived in St Helens, and neither had been married before. Walter was a glass maker. Their fathers were named as James Paterson (glass maker) and Thomas Finney (clog maker). The witnesses were Martha Finney and Thomas Walker.
