Biography

Sands Helme Fish, born 19 Sep 1821 at Stonington, Connecticut [1], was the second child of Prudence Brown (Dean) Fish (1799-1873) and Asa Fish (1790-1861).

On 11 March 1850 at Groton, Connecticut, Sands H. Fish and Emeline Beebe published their intent to marry [2]. They did marry on 14 March 1850 at Groton [3]. The event was later chronicled [4].

They had one child:

Per the Fish genealogy [5], He was in Brooklyn, NY in 1849, and in Buffalo NY, then in Toledo, Ohio in 1850, 1851-55 and in 1855-60 in Lafayette, Ind. where he was in the flour and grain business. He was in Chicago and Brooklyn in 1860.

Sands Helme Fish died 5 Nov 1899. His grave is in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, New London County, Connecticut, USA [6].

Notes

Observe care not to confuse this person with Sands Fish (1799-1829) who was born 27 Feb 1799 in Groton, son of Bridget (Gallup) and Sands Fish, who was a mate on a ship, and who was not known to have married.

Death date for this Sands Helme Fish is ambiguous; F-A-G profile gives 5 November 1899, whereas Connecticut death record gives 5 December [7].
