Johannes Georg Fischer was born to parents Johannes Jurg Fisher and Anna Eberhard on either October 19 [1] or, most likely, November 3 of 1768 in the area of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania now split four ways; Upper Salford Township, East Greenville, Upper Hanover Township and Lower Milford Township. [2]
A diary discovered and attributed to his mother includes a passage about a six year old John who "left (Pennsylvania) on the rainy 30th day of November 1774...with his uncle, Jacob, for North Carolina..."[3]
J. George signed a marriage contract to wed Catherine / Katherine "Unknown" here Catherine UNKNOWN (believed Shoemaker by this author) on March 16, 1790 in Rowan County, North Carolina [4] with the marriage held on the same day. [5]
Similar to his birth date, there is more than one date of death associated with his profile pages. The most common for Johannes Georg are November 18, 1822 and June 28, 1838; both of which are listed in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, and neither have been adequately sourced for a genealogically defined profile. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with George by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with George:
I think Fisher-16363 and this profile have some information crossed. I'm not asking for a merge with the dates being spread apart but the lack of sourcing and since the birth here is the marriage date of the other.....?
Thanks Becky. I don't know much about this profile, I adopted it quite some time ago when I was researching another George Fisher and found no manager here.. I will check into what you mention to see if I can sort it out. I remember this being an important family in PA history, with many prominent family members. I think I fell down in a rabbit hole on this one and gave up. Once I compare to the profile you mention I may figure it out. Thanks
I really appreciate it- I have 2 direct lines that intersect with Miller / Müeller and Fisher at around the same in both PA and NC so I share the frustration- I do know in my trees I have this George traced through son John and his name being some form of "Johannes Jurg" aka Johann George "Jr" etc. The wife lines up in a way because a marriage I found occured in March of 1790 to a "Mary Catherine Schumacher / Shoemaker"...these being 5th great grandparents of mine if I am looking at it correctly
I am going to remove myself as manager and refer it to two others who obviously have done more research than I have done on this individual. There is far too much involved for a non family member to tackle. Those who have rejected other matches below hopefully will jump in here.
Trying to see if I can find a connection between this individual and The Fishers who founded Middletown, PA., as written in the Chronicles of Middletown compiled by C>H> Hutchenson 1906. Schindler-204
