Surname note

This surname had many different spellings, including Fitzrandle, Fittsrendolfe, or Fittsrandolfe[14], with FitzRandolph or Fitz Randolph emerging as the most common. Fitz Randolph is being recommended as the standard, recognizing though that in later years, Fitz sometimes became used as a middle name for sons and optional for daughters. In this Fitz Randolph family, Fitz appears to have been used by all family members as part of their surname: the Oris H.F. Randolph genealogy (referenced below) assumes this to be the case when listing the children in both the family in which Joseph is a child and the one in which he is the father. Variants of the name were used inconsistently in records, including Fitts Randle and Fitzrandolph. The current consensus is to use the surname Fitz Randolph. Please don't hesitate to contact the profile manager if you think this decision should be reviewed!

I prefer Fitz Randolph also. However, I have also seen FitzRandolph (without the space).

This proposed merge is essentially a merge for spelling. If so, I prefer Fitz Randolph. What do the other managers think?

Leila, I agree that Fitz Randolph is reasonable, especially after reading explanation in profile above. It's a question that I've seen in past, and I suspect several others agree with us too. Richard.

Fitzrendolph-1 and Fitz Randolph-3 appear to represent the same person because: Clearly same person.

As Robin indicated back in 2015, a wife was attached incorrectly and made a mess. I think I have now gotten all of Joseph's children correctly attached to him.

Fitz Randolph-431 and Fitz Randolph-3 appear to represent the same person because: Incorrectly added Fitz Randolph-431 when trying to connect Fitz Randolph-3.

Fitz Randolph-59 and Fitz Randolph-3 do not represent the same person because: Not the same person, wife was attached incorrectly, now, children need to be realigned
