Biography
Ethel Maher was licensee of the Leichhardt Hotel, cnr East and Morgan Streets, Mt. Morgan from 4 April 1928.( Licensing Court Mt. Morgan. 'Register of Liquor Licenses 1913-1929) .
Mt.Morgan roll 1923 shows Ethel Maher, barmaid, Tipperary Pt. Mt. Morgan from 1921.
Family lore says that Ethel Maher above was never married. However the sister of grandma McHugh married a Maher who had a close relationshhhip with Ethel Maher above. Grandma's sister may be named Ellen. An Ellen Fitzpatrick,aged 19 immigrated on 19/10/1895 on "Cheyebassa".
- Information researched shows Ellen Fitzpatrick 20 and sister Bridget 18 arrived in Australia on "Anglo Indian" in Cooktown on 13th Sept. 1883. Place of disembarkment unknown.
Died at Mackay District Hospital, Burial Date: 15 DEC 1929
