Katherine was the daughter of Richard FitzWilliam and Elizabeth Clarell.[1][2][3] (Metcalfe's edition of the 1562-4 Lincolnshire visitation says her father was William Fitzwilliam of Alnwick, Northumberland:[4] this is a mistake: Katherine is named in her mother's will, proved on 13 June 1503, [5][6] and her mother was married to Richard.) Her parents had lands in several counties and her birthplace is not known. They married before 1448[1][2] and she herself probably married in 1479: against this background, her birth date has been estimated as about 1455.
Katherine married John Skipwith[1][2][3] The contract for their marriage was dated 14 January 18 Edward IV (4 March 1478 - 3 March 1479),[7] suggesting a marriage date of 1479. (Douglas Richardson says 1478 but this is presumably meant to be a regnal year.[1][2]) They had at least four children:
Agnes/Anne, who married Charles Yarborough[1][2][4][8]
Elizabeth, who married Anthony Riggs[4] and Matthew Thimbleby[1][2][8]
Metcalfe's edition of the 1562-4 Lincolnshire Visitation names another daughter, Bridget, who married someone with the last name Carr.[4]
John Skipwith died on 5 January 1518.[1][2] Katherine survived him. Joseph Foster's Pedigrees of the County Families of Yorkshire mentions - with a question-mark - the possibility that she subsequently married Thomas Wackerley,[7] but no reliable source has been found for this and it is not known what the basis is for Foster's tentative suggestion. Her death date is not known.

See Base Camp for more information about identified Magna Carta trails and their status. See the project's glossary for project-specific terms, such as a "badged trail".
This profile appears in a Richardson-documented trail from Gateway Ancestor William Asfordby to Magna Carta Surety Baron Robert FitzWalter. This profile and trail have not yet been developed by the Magna Carta Project. I will soon be adding the project as co-manager of the profile and a project box and project section to the biography. Thanks.
could be contract date. when marriage is "too early" check dates for first child's birth. in this case, that doesn't really help, because first child born 1488 is unlikely (2nd child born 1505 with mother born 1455 is even more unlikely for this era).

Re. Catherine Skipwith. Yes I agree. I have looked at the visitation of Lincolnshire and you are right, the problem is I can't find anything more about her being the daughter of William only Richard. Unfortunately I am not 1500 certified so couldn't alter anything someone else would have to do it In the meantime I will keep searching to try to get it right
Re Thomas Wortley and Catherine and Elizabeth Fitzwilliam Wortley
Thomas Wortley married firstly Catherine FitzWilliam Secondly Joan Balderston and thirdly Elizabeth FitzWilliam You will find it all on website below. I cant alter anything on this profile I am not pre 1500 certified
