Biography

Isabel was married by 1351 when she and her husband Thomas de Barley received a part of her inheritance from her grandfather, Robert Haryngell.[1] Thus, she was probably born sometime in the 1330-1335 range.

She died sometime before 1423, when her daughter Mary Boswell brought a suit based on her will.[2] A 1406 lawsuit shows that she and Thomas were both still alive at that date,[3] and the Boswell suit shows that Thomas predeceased her.

Below is from a post by John Ravilious on Gen-Medieval: [4]

' Isabell Fytzwilliam sole doughter & heyre. = Thomas Barley of Woodsome or of Woodhall.' [HSP 16:27, pedigree of Bosvyle.]

" Isabel Fitz William, the heiress of Woodhall ", identified in the case of her grandsons William Bosvile and Robert Drax against Sir William Mauleverer, 1446 (see below) [Barlow p. 16[16], cites De Banco Rolls, No. 741, m. 328; Cal. Pat. Rolls, Hen VI, 1425, Feb. 12]

Spouse: Thomas Barley (son of Richard de Barley)

Children: Mary (-<1420), m. John Bosvile, of Ardsley, co. Yorks.; Margaret (-<1434)

FitzWilliam-356 and Fitzwilliam-287 appear to represent the same person because: Same father, same spouse, different daughters, but the quotes on 287 make it quite obvious that this is the same person (sole heiress) and mother of both the Bosville and Drax grandsons.

FitzWilliam-356 and Fitzwilliam-287 are not ready to be merged because: Father maybe the same person but they are slightly different
