Biography

James was born in 1792. James Fleetwood served as a Lieutenant in the 74th Highlands under general Sir Thomas Picton during whole Peninsula Campaign was present at battles, Toulouse, Orthes, Nivelle, Salamanca, Badajoz and Ciudad Rodrigo at conclusion of the war we went with his regiment to Canada and was gazetted Captain in 20th Light Dragoons raised to commander by Lord vis Combermire, Medals 6 clasps - he died Sep 1858 his wife Elizabeth Jackson died July 1874. [1]

It seems most probable that James is a descendant of George Fleetwood. [2] who was one of Cromwell's Lords. [3] [4]
