Research Notes

  • Susanna (Fleming) Bates Woodson is named in her daughter's marriage record - Hannah Bates married Robert Easly 23 Dec 1745 in Goochland, Virginia[6]

Research Notes

  • Her birthdate was adjusted to 1693 instead of 1690 because less than eight months had passed between the 1690 date and a sibling's birthdate. Both profiles should be checked further (Quaker dates may apply, as well): the narrative which cites a source for her birthdate says 1693.

Marriage date for Susannah Fleming Jr & John "The Quaker" Bates II is listed as 08 May 1713 in New Kent at the Henrico Monthly Meeting within the U.S., Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, Vol I–VI, 1607-1943, page 176.

The meeting records actually say they were married the "8th day 5th mo 1713". Before the calendar change in September 1752, the fifth month was July, not May. The new year started on 25 March, making March the first month.
