Martha was born about 1849.

Research Notes

Illinois County Marriage records show an "Anna Fletcher" marrying " Albert N Matteson" in Warren County, Illinois in 1871. However, subsequent census records for Anna F Matteson and Anna Matteson show different birth states for the parents. The 1850 census has father Josiah born in New York and mother Emily born in Kentucky. There's appears to be at least some doubt as to Martha and Anna being the same person.

On the other hand, both of Martha Ann Fletcher's parents seem to have died in 1853 and the children may have gone to different homes. So Martha's knowledge of her parents may have been limited.

The Find A Grave Memorial 105198211 appears to treat the two as one in the same and cites two newspaper obituaries that are consistent with Martha Ann's parents' 1853 demize.
