William was born about 1570 in Chelmsford, Yorkshire (?!). ^{[citation needed]}

Anne Finnye married William Fletcher in 1587 in Lenton, Nottinghamshire ^[1]

William Fletcher died in 1606 and was buried at Lenton on 13th September ^[2], just one month after his wife had died.

Research Notes

This profile originally had a "firm" date of death of 28 Jun 1636 in Nottinghamshire. This also appears in many online trees including this one ^[3] which further specifies that he died on that date in Lenton. The reference for that is another tree (at ancestry), and they appear to each copy that death fact from the other without a single primary source.

The burial register for the parish of Lenton is available (online at FindMyPast.co.uk or on fiche at the Nottingham Archive). There are 49 burials recorded in the parish of Lenton in the years 1635-1637. None of them are Fletchers. The only burial that comes close to that quoted is on the 26th (not 28th) June 1636 and is for a Gulimius Feildinge, which, given the handwriting of the time could perhaps have been misread in the past as Fletcher.

The burial of William Fletcher is clearly recorded in 1606 in those same registers.
