Lester Flory Flory, Lester Joe – 68 of Red Bluff, California, died at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital early Wednesday morning. A native of Ilwaco, Washington, he was born July 16, 1928. He lived in Roseburg and was employed by Roseburg Lumber Company. For a time he resided in Brookings, Oregon where he worked for Brook Ply. In 1966 he moved to Red Bluff, California where he was a supervisor at Diamond National Corp. and also became a real estate broker and businessman. In 1986 he and his wife Ruth moved back to Roseburg where he continued working as a state inspector for the Oregon Contractors Licensing Board. Then in 1994 they went back to Red Bluff to retire and enjoy their family and friends. Les enjoyed golf, bowling, and was an avid hunter and fisherman prior to a boating accident on August 3, 1991. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Red Bluff, California; daughter and son-in-law, Johnelle and Hal Begbie of Red Bluff, California; son, Alvin Flory of Salem, Oregon; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Sandra Flory of Roseburg, John and Laurie Davis of Warrenton, Virginia, Gary and Edith Davis of Redding, California; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and Tom Nelson of Estacada, Oregon, Joanne and Harry Davis of Salem, Oregon; brothers and sisters-in-law,John and Alice Flory of Grand Ronde, Oregon, Marvin and Marlys Flory of Renton, Washington, and Melvin “Buck” and Caroline Flory of Eugene, Oregon; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Friends are invited to gather with the family to share memories and celebrate his life at their home at 2480 Oriole Drive, Red Bluff, California between 2 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 1997. HOYT-COLE CHAPEL OF THE FLOWERS in Red Bluff, California is in charge of arrangements. Following cremation, his ashes will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff.
