When the 1850 census was taken, Sarah was seven-years old, and living in Union, Kentucky with her parents Henry, a sixty-one-year old farmer, and his mother Elizabeth who was thirty-five years old. His father owned real estate valued at $2,380. Also listed in the household were her brothers and sisters, A.E. (23), N.H. (14), T.A., (12), B.R. (10), Enoch (9), (7) and C.F. (3). N.H., T.A., B.R., Enoch and Sarah were all attending school that year. [1]
