NOTE: There are, at least 3, different people named Josiah Floyd that lived in the same area in VA in the late 1700s - 2 of whom appear to have married a Mary Tillman. Please help clear up the conflation of their data.

The Josiah Floyd who wrote the Will below and died in 1833 is not the same Josiah Floyd who, per sworn statements in NC, died 29 Nov 1828, and his wife, Mary (possibly known as "Molly") Tillman Floyd, died 2 Oct 1846. The sworn statements made in 1839 and 1850 for the Josiah who died in 1828 in NC were submitted to obtain a Revolutionary War Soldier Pension for Josiah's surviving family members including his son, James - see http://revwarapps.org/w7281.pdf. James also listed his siblings so the children of this Josiah and Mary, in birth order, are: William, Ann, Henry, James born 13 Apr 1791, Eliza, Joseph, Sarah, John, Marist and Martha. These are the same names listed in the same order in the book "SPES ALIT AGRICOLAN" (Tilghman/Tillman family genealogy) with slight differences in spelling that may be just transcription errors. Also, records in VA indicate the father of this Josiah is also named Josiah.

Biography

Josiah was born about 1759. He was the son of Josiah Floyd. He passed away about 1828.

The Josiah Floyd who wrote the Will below had a son named Dury Josiah Floyd, who died 2-3 Oct 1868 and whose Obituary was published in the Nashville Christian Advocate on 2 Jan 1869 - see the reference below.
