Biography

Colon's WW I Draft Registration says he was born a natural citizen in Magee, Mississippi. He was a farmer who farmed for his self. He had one wife and one child that were dependants. Wife's name is Nannie. Colon was of medium height and build. He has red hair and is not bald. The 1930 U.S. Census says he lived in Vernon, Madison County, Mississippi. He was 41 and his age at marriage was 26. His occupation was a lawyer. His wife is Nannie L., age 34 and she was 19 when they were married. They had the following children: Cuel 13-female, Mary 11-female, Benny 9-male, Elna Mae 5-female, and Claborne 1 4/12- male.

Another possible source is Mississippi Enumeration of Educable children which lists Claiborne as attending school in Simpson County and his father's name is Colon Floyd.

Colon Nichols Floyd was born on Feb 27, 1889 in Magee, Simpson, Mississippi, USA as the fourth child of Ely Allen Floyd and Sarah Caroline Wilson.

He had ten siblings, namely: Sarah Louvenia, Lewis Rowan Sr, Earl Hicks, Howard Ely, Ina Bell, Charles Wilson, Lenora Pearl, Alno Berry, Iona Caroline, and William Jennings Bryan.

He died on Aug 01, 1934 in Flora, Madison, Mississippi, USA (Age at Death: 45). He was shot and killed by Dave Gray.

When he was 25, he married Nannie Lula Bishop, daughter of Warren William Bishop and Mollie Lou Everett, on Sep 27, 1914. [1] They were divorcing in 1933 and were in a custody dispute over the children. [2]
