When Daniel William Flinn was born on July 9, 1828, in Virginia, his father, Samuel, was 30 and his mother, Judith, was 24. He married Amanda Green in 1851 in Washington, District of Columbia. He then married Martha A Fox and they had seven children together. He died on February 15, 1876, in Iowa Point, Kansas, at the age of 47, and was buried there.
In the 1865 census Mary (age 14) was in Iowa, Doniphan, Kansas.[2]
