Biography

Baptised on the 12th of May 1648, Philip Foley was the 4th but 3rd surviving son of ironmaster Thomas Foley of Witley Court in Worcestershire and his wife, Anne Browne.

On the 5th of October 1670 he married Penelope Paget, daughter of William, Lord Paget and his wife, Frances Rich. She bore him 4 sons and 7 daughters of whom 2 sons and a daughter died in their father's lifetime.

Philip was first returned to Parliament as member for Bewdley in 1679 and continued to serve for one constituency or another until 1701.

He was dead before the 11th of December 1716 when his nephew Thomas Foley was granted leave of absence on that account.
