This is the profile for Elizabeth, the wife of Joseph Russell.
First Name; Date of Birth; Date of Death
Dartmouth town records establish that Joseph Russell was married to a woman named Elizabeth, that she was born on 6 March 1657 (probably 1657/8), and that she died 25 September 1737.[1] This comes from an 18th century compilation of records for John Russell, Sr.'s, and Joseph Russell, Sr.'s families in the Dartmouth town records. Elizabeth's surname isn't given.
Maiden Name
Several secondary sources say that Elizabeth was the daughter of John Fobes and Constant (Mitchell) Fobes.[2][3] However, no primary sources have been found that support that assertion.
Marriage
No record of Elizabeth's marriage to Joseph Russell has been found. Based on the date of birth of their eldest child (November 1679), they were probably married about 1678.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
I have found no primary evidence for John Fobes Sr having a daughter named Elizabeth, but both Nahum Mitchell's 1840 "History of the Early Settlement of Bridgewater" and James Savage's 1860 "Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of New England" say he had a daughter named Elizabeth. In addition, in George Allen's letter re John Fobes Jr's death, Allen said, with regard to John Jr, that "His love he remembered to his mother and his brothers and sisters", so appears fairly certain that John Fobes Sr had at a daughter besides the Mary referenced in his will.
I have found no primary evidence that Joseph Russell's wife was Elizabeth Fobes. However, it is interesting to note that one of Elizabeth's granddaughters was named Constant (a relatively rare name), perhaps in honor of Elizabeth Fobes' mother.
