Simon Ford DD was the rector of Old Swinford, Worcestershire (close to Wollescote)[1] for 22 years. He was also apparently a descendant of Sir Nicholas Wadham, the founder of Wadham College (possibly this individual Nicholas Wadham)?.
His first marriage to Ann Unknown subsisted while he was vicar of All Saints Church in Northhampton[2]. He had many children with Ann while there.
Simon married Martha Stampe by licence.[2]
Ford was connected to the Grove family of Alveley, Shropshire, through his wife Katherine as his name and place of residence (Old Swinford) appears on a 1690 lease document for that property[3].
There are articles on the internet purporting to give Simon Ford's history. They omit reference to his third marriage to Katherine Grove. The 1690 lease deed refers to "Simon Ford DD and Katherine his wife". There is a record of a "Simon Ford" marrying Katherine Grove in Alveley in September 1686 - it is likely to be the same "Katherine" who is mentioned as his wife in 1690[4].
