David Boyd Forse was born in November 1820 in Centre County, Pennsylvania. His parents were Thomas Forse/Force and Nancy Elizabeth Ann Reiter. The surname is often spelled "Force."
He married Margaret Barr in about 1847. Their children included:
During the Civil War in the United States, David served as a volunteer for the Union. During the siege of Vicksburg, he was in charge of the ram Switzerland under General Porter. [1]
He worked for many years as an engineer on the upper Ohio River.[2]
David passed away in December 1902 at age 83 and was buried in Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. [3]
