Robert Forth was born around 1541 (estimate only - based on his parents' marriage in 1540), the son of William Forth of Hadleigh, Suffolk and Butley Abbey, and his wife Elizabeth Powell.[1]
Marriage & Children
He married Frances, daughter of Edward Glemham of Glemham.[1] Their children included:
Note: Their is some uncertainity over the parentage of at least two daughters. The Visitation of London (1633, 1634, 1635) described Frances as the daughter of Sir William Forth of Butley Abbey Suffolk.[2]
This uncertainty is repeated in the Suffolk Visitation of 1561, in regards to Mary, where it notes that a Sir William Bamborough of co. York married a daughter (e.g. Mary) 'of William (? Robert) Forthe of Butley Abbey...'and citing the Harl MSS 1560, 64 B.[3]
Charles Forthe, presumably dead before 1600. Married Elizabeth, daughter of John Jernegan of Somerleyton. [4]
He died around 1600 and his will was proved 2 March 1600.[5]
