Family Louis Pichard and Marie Madeleine Fortin per PRDH
Louis Pichard died in 1699 and Marie Madeleine Fortin remarried
Jean Chotard dit St-Onge son of Bertrand Chotard and of the late Marie Chaineau, married Marie Madeleine Fortin daughter of the late Louis Fortin and of Catherine Godin on April 25th 1700 in Sts-Anges de Lachine.[5][6]
They have one daughter born to them, Marie Anne Chotart, on 29 June 1701, baptized on the 30th in Lachine, the priest incorrectly entering her mother's name as Marie Godin (grandmother's name).[7]; Marie Anne Chotart on her marriage with Antoine Perrein on 25 June 1720 in Montréal (ND), had her mother listed as Marie Catherine Fortin, another clerical error, Catherine being the grandmother's given name.[8]
Marie Fortin, wife of Jean Chotard dit St-Onge died of smallpox while giving birth to a daughter in the night of 19 May 1703, the child being premature at only 6 1/2 months died with her, both were buried together on the same day in Lachine (Saints-Anges), the record giving Marie 29 years of age. Cited present at the funeral were her husband Jean Chotard dit St-Onge, her mother Catherine Godin, and her brother René Fortin, along with several others unnamed.[9]
Jean Baptiste Chotard remarried on October 7th 1720 to Marie Catherine Charbonneau daughter of Jean Charbonneau and Elisabeth Boire.[10]
PRDH should be rechecked as to what they say about her, they have a tendency to list any name a person got given, whether erroneously or not, without specifying what was the actual case of the matter.
