Biography

Susan was born in 1782 in New Hampshire. She was probably the daughter of Isaiah Foss (1754–1850) and Mary Dow (1756–1843).

She married William Stiles in 1806. William died in 1811.

She and William Stiles had a daughter, Mehitable "Hattie" Stiles 1811 - 1891, who married James S. Thompson.

She married Francis Bunker in 1812.

She and Francis Bunker had the following children:

Susan Bunker (1813–1910), who married Trueworthy Tuttle.

Francis J. Bunker (1817–1909), who married Hannah Bunker (daughter of Joseph Bunker and Sally Eaton).

Jonathan Wallingford Bunker (1818–1905), who married Rosina Foss.

Mary Wallingford Bunker (1820–1912), who married (1st) Lorenzo Thompson, and (2nd) Jotham S. Bigelow.

Clement William Bunker (1824–1911), who married (1st) Hannah Elizabeth Gowdy, and (2nd) Almeda Ann Cooley.

Elizabeth Stiles Bunker (1828–1905), who married Israel Sawyer Bigelow.


1815 • Athens, Somerset Co., Maine: Francis Bunker came from New Hampshire among the early settlers and took up a farm a mile square. His wife was Susan Foss. He settled on Bunker Hill and lived for some years in a log house which he built on the place now occupied by John Thompson.


She passed away 1886 in Maine. [1]

Susan Foss Bunker died December 28, 1866, age 104, in Harmony, Somerset County, Maine. Burial: Mount Rest Cemetery, Athens, Somerset County, Maine. [2]
