Birth Location Research Notes

The 1900 US Census states Isaac Foster was born in Kentucky, the 1880 US Census states, as noted by Lisa Eddings. he was born in Ireland, the 1870 US Census states he was born in Pennsylvania, the 1860 US Census states he was born in Pennsylvania, the 1850 US Census states he was born in Ireland. The death certificate of one of Isaac Foster's children, Minnie, states her father was born in Ireland. I used the 1860 and and 1870 US Census as my recommendation for place of birth but the argument is also strong for Ireland. Without question Isaac's father and mother were born in Ireland, and that could be the source of confusion by census enumerators taking census information. In fact the 1880 US census shows several mark thru's by the census enumerator while recording the birth locations for the residents. Isaac's father Richard Robert Foster died in Quaker City, Ohio in 1858 and his mother died in Pittsburgh, PA in 1833 so feel Pennsylvania may be a better birth location for Isaac than Ireland.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Isaac by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Isaac:

I just added a great bio of Isaac Foster, which I found in the "History of Kentucky, Battle, Perrin, Henry 1892." It contains some new information, but I am unsure how to add it to this tidy profile, so I'll leave that to the profile managers. Special point of interest is Isaac stated that he was the third child of six children of Richard and Nancy Foster. I descend from his sister, Christiana, and I'm only aware of three siblings: Christiana, Isaac and William B. In looking at the 1830 Census of their father, Richard Foster, in Blairsville, Indiana, PA, there are indeed 6 children listed (the eldest may be an apprentice given the age gap). Does anyone have any data on these other children? Just wondering.

Just added notes to Foster-21901 regarding Birth location. Whatever location is chosen during the merge it should be marked as uncertain and the research notes should be left for future genealogists.

Foster-21901 and Foster-10562 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, exact same spouse on both profiles, 1880 census shows birth place as ireland.

Thank you for reviewing, Teresa (WikiTree Arborist)
