Biography

Martha E. Foster was born in that part of Machias, Maine, later set off as East Machias, 7 Mar 1793, ^{[1] [2]} the daughter of Paul Foster and Elizabeth "Betsey" Webber; ^[3] died at West Roxbury, Massachusetts, 20 Jun 1868, ^{[4] [5]} and is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts. ^[6] She married (1) at Machias, 7 Oct 1815, the widower, Titus Philbrook Folsom, born at Mount Vernon, Maine, c1789, the son of Peter Sanborn Folsom and Betsey Philbrick; died at East Machias before 21 Oct 1832, ^{[7] [3]} when Martha married (2) at East Machias, Henry Smith Chase, born at Machias, 28 Feb 1791, ^{[8] [9]} the son of William Chase and Lucy Smith. ^{[10] [3]}

Enumerated in the household of her son, Paul J. Folsom, in the 1865 Massachusetts State census of Cambridge. ^[11]
