Alma loved to write poetry, draw, paint, play the piano and organ, sing, do creative crafts such as pottery, pine needle baskets, and collect various type of glassware. She was a long time member of Eastern Star (Past Worthy Matron) Chapter #971, and Rosiclare IL Rebekah (Past Noble Grand) Lodge #601(1940's), and the Royal Neighbor, and President of the local Women's Club.
Alma had 2 siblings that died in infancy, Roy (1890) and Evelyn (1908). Evelyn is buried next to Ma & Pa (Lewis) Foster in the IOOF Cemetery, Golconda, Pope County, Illinois.
Alma is buried next to her husband, J. Coy Lay, in Florida.
