Nancy Q. McDonald was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth McDonald. Peter died in 1860 leaving his wife Elizabeth and children. William A. Foster married Nancy Q. in 1868 in Fannin County. In the 1870 Fannin County, Texas census, Alfred and Nancy were living with Elizabeth McDonald and family. Nancy was mistakenly listed as a McDonald, although she was married to W.A. Foster.
In 1880, William and Nancy were living in Brown County, Texas, in Birds Store precinct. They had two living children, a daughter and a son, M.E. and J.W. Interestingly, they were living in the same county as some of the relatives. I believe that Peter and Nicholas McDonald, (who were accused of murdering a postal employee in Graham, TX) lived in Brown County. Coleman County was the next adjoining county, and William McDonald was living there.

In 1900, the Fosters were living in Eastland, TX, the next county South of Brown County. Now, there are two more children living at home, James A. and George W. I suppose that the first children have already married and moved out. The daughter, M.E., would've been 29 by now. And J.W., 26. The census indicates that one of Nancy's children died by 1900.

According to 1910 census, Nancy had given birth to 7 children, but only 4 remained alive.
