Martin was born in 1847. Martin Foster passed away in 1945.
(Quoted from newspaper obituary) Martin L. Foster, 98, for many years a resident in Woodbridge Township, and a retired farmer, died Sunday afternoon at the home of his son, Floyd, in Lansing, where he had been living for the past two years. He lived for three years with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Radabaugh, prior to her death in 1943. A telegrapher by profession, Foster served 54 stations in southern Michigan and northern Ohio. [great grandson Dennis Radabaugh has his telegrapher key] In reminiscing, he often recalled the excitement at the time of the assassination of President James A. Garfield. Foster was also an accomplished dulcimer player. His father purchased this musical instrument when Foster was ten years old, and in later years, he had a repertoire of 80 selections. He was said to be the oldest player in the state. His wife, the former Jane Portman, of Lenawee County, died in January, 1940, after the couple had celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Foster was a life member of the Camden Masonic Lodge, and of Camden Chapter Order Eastern Star. Beside the son at whose home he died, Foster is survived by eight grandsons, four granddaughters, and 22 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at one of the Lsnsing Funeral homes. The same day, the body will be brought to Locust Corners for interment in the family lot.[1]
