Royal F. Foster, 73, Brushton, died Sunday at Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital, Malone, where he had been a patient since Nov. 3.
For many years, Mr. Foster owned and operated a potato farm and trucking business until retiring in 1979. Since 1972, he had spent winters at Clearwater, Fla., where he was a member and past president of Sky Harbor Estates board of directors.
He was past chairman of the Franklin County Extension Service, was past member and president of Brushton-Moira Central School and, for six years, was supervisor for the town of Dickinson.
Mr. Foster was a member of Malone Wesleyan Church and a former member of the church board.
Born April 2, 1923, in Brushton, son of Fred and Katherine Lynch Foster, he graduated from Brushton High School in 1941 and married Lora Marie Saxton on April 22, 1944, in Brushton with the Rev. R. N. Raycroft officiating.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Marvin, Pomona, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Sharlene) Jock, Brushton; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four nieces and a nephew.
A brother, Myron, and a sister, Virginia Hazzard, died before him.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Flint Funeral Home, Moira, with the Revs. Timothy Hawk and Floyd Tyler officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America or Malone Wesleyan Church.
