Obituary

FOSTER. – Died November 20, 1906, at the home of his daughter near Taylor, Williamson county, Texas, John R. Foster, of Goforth, Hays county, and was buried November 21 at the Martin church cemetery in Hays county. Bro. Foster was born September 23, 1841, near the stream known as Big Creek, Giles county, Tenn., and was married to Miss Nancy D. Morrow in the year 1865. They moved to Goforth, Hays county, from which place she preceded him seven years and seven months, to the rest that awaits the blessed that die in the Lord. Brother Foster obeyed the gospel when he was but a young man. He was ever a lover of the truth as revealed by the inspired writers, and lived a consistent Christian life unto the end. He leaves behind him three daughters and one son, besides other relatives, and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

Why do we mourn departed friends?

Or shake at death’s alarms?

‘Tis but the voice that Jesus sends

To call them to His arms.

J. T. ROGERS. 901 E. Second street, Austin, Texas.

The above obituary appeared in the Firm Foundation (Austin, TX) of 12 Feb 1907.

[FAG – 71828895, Hays Co., TX] [This was the uncle of Mary Foster Brownlow] [This indicates Nancy Morrow Foster died about April 1899.]
