Biography

Nathaniel Foster was born on 17 April 1725 in Harwich, Massachusetts. He was the son of Chillingsworth Foster and Susanna Gray. [1] [2] [3] [4]

"Nathaniel Foster, Corporal in War of Revolution, born Brewster, Mass. Apr. 17, 1725, married Phoebe Wing 1746; second wife Charity Knowlton[5][6][7]; third wife, Rebecca Vickery. He was a member of the committee appointed in 1777 to represent the south-east precinct in the general committee and appears on a military order to organize a guard, dated Oct. 8, 1777. He appears as having served from Connecticut in the Revolution as a Corporal in Captain Watbridge’s Company in 1777 and was a prisoner June 30 of that year. Residence near Danbury, Conn. At South-east New York. He died in 1787.”

He was a member of various committees and signed the Articles of Association. [8] [9]

He married Phebe Wing on 21 June 1746 in Harwich, Barnstable. [10]

Will dated April 13, 1787. He lived in Southeast, Dutchess County, NY. Wife: Charity. Sons: John. Nathaniel. David. Samuel. Daughters: Thankful. Ruth. Phebe. Jerusha. Susannah. Son: Robert Nolton (stepson?) Not yet age 21. Executors: Abner Crosby. Sons Nathaniel Foster Jr. Samuel Foster. Proved May 15, 1787.
