Biography

The 1882 US Census showed Maltby Stanton Fowler to be 5 years old and living in Poughkeepsie, New York.

In 1900, Maltby lived in Poughkeepsie Ward 6, Dutchess, New York as the son of Benjamin M. and Ada Fowler and they had four children: Douglas, 16; Maloby (Maltby), 13; and Benjamin, 9. His father was Benjamin M Fowler, who was born in Connecticut. His mother was Ada Fowler, who was born in Wisconsin.

According to the 1910 Census, Maltby Stanton Fowler, single, age 23, was living in Ward 8, New Haven, Connecticut, USA. He was living with Charles Kern 49, Mary B Kern, 55, and Charles A. Kern 25.

In the Catalogue of Princeton University for 1912-1913, Honors were conferred for the Civil Engineering Course. Benjamin Maltby Fowler, Jr. graduated "Cum Laude"

According to the 1920 Census, Maltby Stanton Fowler, age 33, lived on 550 Cowing Road, Stamford , Fairfield, Conneticut, USA, with his wife, Janet (Coon), 36, and their sons, Maltby Stanton, age 7, and Douglas McPherson, 5. We was a clerk in an elastic factory.

According to the 1930 Census, Maltby Stanton Fowler, age 44, lived in Waterbury, New Haven, CT on 106 Hillside Ave. He was then married to Janet (Coon), age 47, and had two boys: Maltby, age 17, and Douglas, age 15.

Maltby Stanton Fowler Sr. died September 18, 1945 at the age of 59. Cause of death was listed on the death certificate as acute cardiac failure due to coronary artery disease, including tuberculosis of lung and intestinesand. He had died in bed. He had been living at 147 Cottage St. In New Haven, Connecticut for twenty years and had been working for Union and New Haven Trust Company. Stated on the certificate was: he was married to the former Janet C. Coon for sixty two years,

His parents were Benjamin M. Fowler and Ada Douglas, both from Poughkeepsie NY. Burial was September 21, 1945 at the Rural Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Maltby S. Fowler Dies in New Haven

Former resident here, Maltby Stanton Fowler, died Monday at his home in New Haven. Funeral services will be conducted in New Haven at 11 o'clock, Friday morning and burial will be in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery at 3 o'clock Friday. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Janet Coon Fowler and a brother, Benjamin Fowler, Jr.

According to a document provided by Pughkeepsie Rural Cemetery in grave location 12, Maltby Stanton Fowler, Sr. shares a headstone with his wife. On the granite marker, both names are listed. On the left: Maltby Stanton Fowler, July,1829 - Sept., 1945, and Janet Coon Fowler, February, 1883 - July, 1955.
