Joseph was born in 1796 in South Carolina. He left Tennessee in 1830 with several other families for northeastern Arkansas and moved to Fannin County, Texas by 1850. He and his wife, Lucy, were early settlers of Jacksboro, Jacks County, Texas. He passed away in 1854. [1][2]
Recent DNA evidence verifies that Joseph Fowler was not a son of America and Mary Fowler as had been speculated. The only evidence that he might have been the son of America was that they were both in Arkansas and that at least 2 of America's children moved to Fannin County, Texas where Joseph had lived in 1850. However, Joseph moved to northeast Arkansas from Tennessee with several other families and America and his family lived in and around Hot Spring County which is in the southwestern part of Arkansas. -- Rebecca Wilson 10 Oct 2018
