Allen Roy Fox was born on 6 May 1891 in Central Waterville, York County, New Brunswick, Canada, son of Samuel Bignall Fox (1843–1924) and Melissa Jane MacDonald (1851–1918).

Allen (22) married Laura Jane Lockard (16) (born on 10 January 1897 in Temperance Vale, York County; daughter of Joseph Albert Lockard and Cordelia Secilia (Manuel) Lockard) on 17 December 1913 in Woodstock, Carleton, New Brunswick. Their known children were:
