Biography

Daniel was born in 1886 to the farmer Thomas Fox and his wife Catherine Donagher. He worked in the Ballyshannon area as a youth.

He emigrated to the US in 1912 on the Caledonia out of Londonderry and lived in Maine. He requested naturalisation in 1915 and a US passport in 1919.

At the time of his marriage to Rose Keys in 1919 he was a merchant. An application was made for a US passport for Rose in 1920. She passed away in Letterkenny in 1922 and it is inferred Daniel remained in Ireland from that point.

He was a shopkeeper and farmer in Letterkenny when he married the widow Hannah Mullins (nee McGrenra) in 1923.

When he married Gertrude Doherty in 1934 he was a flesher or butcher.

He passed away in 1947 and is buried in the family plot in Assaroe Abbey.
