Note: Viola was the only girl in the family of seven children and left school in the fifth grade to help. She worked in the Carpet Shop (Alexander Smith) and told of setting up the warp of many colored threads in the right order. She spent a lot of time bicycling around with her favorite girl friend, Lizzie Gould an English girl who we children always called Aunt Lizzie and later her husband was Uncle Archie. Viola (Mom to me of course) was a friendly woman, a dedicated Christian and mother. It was doubtless much her influence that three of her children have spent their life as overseas missionaries. It was a shame that after the children were nearly grown, she had to spend the rest of her life taking care of the essentially selfish residue of the Hair family in Oxford.
