Eunice was born in 1910 in Fries, Grayson, Virginia to Alfred Lenoir Fox and Lillie Frances Rush.
By 1902[1]the blossoming family was living on Washington Ave, Tunstall, Pittsylvania, Virginia. Here is a map [1] of the boundaries of the county. Eunice was nine.
In 1930, Eunice then 20 was still living at home with her parents but that home was now on Pine Street in Horsepasture, Henry, Virginia. [2] She was working in a Bleaching Mill as a Inspector. [2]
Eunice waited until she was 27 to marry. On 20 February 1937, in Henry County, Virginia [3]she married Harry Harris and settled down in the Village of Fieldale, Horsepasture, Henry, Virginia.[4]
In 1940 her occupation is listed as a "labeler".[5]
In 1942, Eunice gave birth to her only child, Judy Harris in Henry County, Virginia. [6]
Their next home was in Dublin, Ohio where they purchased 5 acres of land and built a wonderful home a bit at a time living in each section until the next was completed. It was a large, comfortable home where they raised their daughter and eventually cared for their grandchildren during summer vacations. At various times, they raised chickens (for eggs), had horses (for the grandkids) and planted a lovely orchard that had apple and plum trees in it. [7]
In the mid 1970s after her husband retired, they followed their daughter to Miami, Florida to be near their two granddaughters. Harry died in their home on 35th Street in Miami and Eunice continued to live there until the early 1990s when she again followed her daughter, this time to Forsyth, Georgia to be near her great grandson. She died at the age of 83 in Forsyth, Georgia. [8]
Eunice was a Mormon. Many of her siblings moved west to Utah and beyond. She was a good seamstress and at one point in her life worked in a factory sewing the tops of convertibles for a living. She loved her soap operas with General Hospital being one of her favorites. She didn't tolerate animals in the house but had a fondness for the stray cats that found their way to the farm in Dublin and had a nightly routine of walking down the long sidewalk to the barn to place the day's food scraps out for them to eat. Despite the distances between them, she was close to her brothers and corresponded with them on a regular basis. [9]
